Sandbagger’s FAQ

What is Sandbagger’s?
Sandbagger’s is an annual golf tournament held in a Ryder’s Cup format.
Currently, the format is comprised of Four Ball, Two-Man Scramble, and Match Play.
When is the tournament?
The tournament is usually held in mid-September. Check the web site for the exact dates.
There is one round on the Friday (usually starting around noon) and two on Saturday (first round starting early (7am-ish) and the second one around noon.
How are the teams created?
Using handicaps, the Sandbagger’s administration creates a tier (A, B1, B2, and C) so players are grouped in similar playing level. A draft is held to create the teams. Once completed, the administration creates the foursomes for the tee times.
Who can play
Everyone is welcome, however, scratch players and similar skilled players are encouraged not to register. This is meant to be a fun tournament.
What is the cost?
Each year, there is an admin cost of approximately $30 which covers the “Closest to the Pin”, and “Longest Drive” games as well as the cost for the web services (domain name, hosting platform, web updates, etc.) and the winning team’s payout.
The cost per round is based on where the tournament is held. On average, the cost is approximately $250 for all three rounds.
If the tournament is held out of town, accommodations and meals would be extra.
Check the web site for exact details on the cost.
How do I register?
You can contact the administration team at admin@sandbaggers.ca to inquire about availability. If there are spots available, you can e-transfer the admin fee (again, usually $30) to the admin email address above. Include your full name and handicap in the e-transfer message/comment section so we have your details.
Can I pay in cash?
No. We do not plan on having to handle a lot of cash during the golf tournament.
What are the teams?
There is a RED team and a BLUE team. You will be notified by the respective captain or the administration about which team you have been assigned.
What is the attire
You MUST wear a golf shirt which has a majority of the colour of your team; e.g., if you are on the Blue team, you must wear a golf shirt that is mostly or all blue.
Failure to wear an appropriate golf shirt will result in a penalty: you have a to buy a round for the opposing golfers in your foursome.
What if I have additional questions?
You can reach info@sandbaggers.ca for more information.
